Matthew 7.21-23 says, "21Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”                    "but he who does the will of my Father in heaven"

Then what is God's will regarding salvation? ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ Here are examples of good works. These people depended / trusted / had Faith / believed in their own ability to do good deeds to have forgiveness of sin. To enter the kingdom of heaven, we must have forgiveness of sin. The two concepts of pure faith and works cannot be mixed to be able to find forgiveness. The only forgiveness of sin comes through PURE FAITH in Jesus without contamination of our dependence or faith in our own goodness or ability to do good. God did everything through his Son on the cross. You have to trust in what He did. He shed his own blood for the remission / forgiveness of our sins. "you who practice lawlessness!” How is it possible that those who did such good works are practicing lawlessness? Because the answer, "Lord, Lord, have we not” done such things ...?" indicates that these people DO NOT totally TRUST in what Jesus did on the cross. It may be because of bad tradition, pride, envy or misunderstanding; it does not matter, what matters is that we believe in Jesus with PURE FAITH and that we teach one another that same FAITH. So, does God want us to do good works? Yes of course! (Ephesians 2.8 - 10) Because we are saved by PURE FAITH. We do not do good works so that we will be saved. What is the answer to the question, "What is the will of my Father in heaven? ", regarding how we have forgiveness of sin and enter the kingdom of heaven. John 6.28-29; 40, "28 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” “40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day. “ 1 John 3:23 also says, "23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment." THEN, the answer is that God wants us to believe only in Jesus and in what He did on the cross with His shed blood with a TRUE 110% PURE FAITH in Jesus Christ without the contamination of a mixture of faith in another person or anything else. The Bible says that there is no other name we can rely on for the forgiveness of sin. Acts 4.12, "12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 10.43, “43 To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.” There is no salvation - there is no eternal life - there is no abundant life - there is no right relationship with God without the forgiveness of our sins. The forgiveness of sin comes by our PURE FAITH alone in Jesus and his blood shed on the cross. The faith that we have in the remission of sin by the sacrifice of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, gives us forgiveness by the grace of God. THEN, there is no other person, no other thing, no other concept given to us. THEREFORE, a mixture of faith in Jesus together with faith in another person or another concept cannot exist. God wants us all to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. He wants us to know His Word, His Will, the Bible so much that we recognize the difference between PURE FAITH that forgives sin and false faith that does not because it is combined with faith in another being and/or in our own physical efforts resulting in good works.
